PRAN's Cassava Project

PRAN's cassava project is a contract farming initiative that was launched in 2014. The project aims to provide Bangladeshi farmers with a sustainable source of income by helping them to cultivate and sell cassava.

PRAN provides farmers with the necessary training, inputs, and financial assistance to grow cassava. The company also guarantees to purchase the entire crop from farmers at a predetermined price.

Once the cassava is harvested, it is transported to PRAN's processing plant in Habiganj. At the plant, the cassava is processed into starch, liquid glucose, and other products.

PRAN's cassava project produces a variety of products, including:

  • Cassava starch: Cassava starch is a versatile ingredient that is used in a wide range of food products, including noodles, bakery goods, and beverages.

  • Liquid glucose: Liquid glucose is a sweetener that is used in food and beverage products, as well as in the pharmaceutical and textile industries.

  • Cassava flour: Cassava flour is a gluten-free alternative to wheat flour. It can be used to make a variety of baked goods, such as bread, cakes, and cookies.

  • Cassava chips: Cassava chips are a popular snack food in Bangladesh. They are made by frying thin slices of cassava.

  • Cassava animal feed: Cassava can be used to make a nutritious and affordable animal feed.

PRAN's cassava project has a number of benefits for both farmers and consumers.

For farmers, the project provides a guaranteed market for their crop and a fair price. The project also helps farmers to improve their agricultural practices and increase their incomes.

For consumers, the project provides access to high-quality cassava products at an affordable price. Cassava is a nutritious food that is rich in carbohydrates, protein, and dietary fiber.
PRAN's cassava project is a successful initiative that is benefiting both farmers and consumers in Bangladesh. The project is helping to improve the livelihoods of farmers and provide consumers with access to affordable and nutritious food.
